Cristiano Ronaldo reveals ‘happiness’ at Manchester United to quash transfer rumours, but insists things ‘need to change’ under new manager Erik ten Hag

Man United finished the season in sixth place, tallying their lowest points haul in Premier League history [58], despite Ronaldo’s blockbuster return to the club last summer.

The forward is the Champions League’s all-time leading goalscorer but will be unable to add to his numbers next season as United missed out on the top four.

Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford appeared uncertain after the appointment of Erik ten Hag but the Dutchman quickly quashed any rumours of an exit insisting that the 37-year-old will be a key figure for his side next season.

In a recent interview with the club Ronaldo discussed a variety of topics, including Ten Hag’s arrival.

“I know he did a fantastic job for Ajax and that he’s an experienced coach, but we need to give him time and things need to change – the way he wants,” Ronaldo said.

“I hope we have success of course. Because if you have success, all of Manchester are going to have success as well. So I wish him the best. We are happy and excited – not only the players but the supporters as well.

“I wish him the best and let’s hope that next year we’re going to win trophies.”
